District 9 is not your usual alien movie. The Tamil dubbing does justice to the film’s raw, documentary-style emotion. The voice casting for Wikus Van De Merwe is surprisingly good – his fear, arrogance, and later vulnerability feel real. The aliens ("prawns") and their struggle for survival hit hard even now. The action sequences are brutal, and the social commentary (apartheid, segregation) is powerful. If you like sci-fi with a brain and heart – and if you can handle found-footage style and gore – watch it. Must-see for Vikram or Robot fans who want serious sci-fi.
