He is a man who genuinely believes in the law but cannot ignore the broken system. His internal war — to kill or not to kill — is the engine of the season.

The MCU had never seen a villain like this. Fisk is not a megalomaniac with a laser beam; he is a traumatized child in the body of a giant. D’Onofrio whispers, stutters, explodes in terrifying rage, then weeps over a painting. The show spends as much time on his courtship with Vanessa (Ayelet Zurer) as it does on Matt’s legal cases.
