Will is bitter and has agreed to give his parents six more months before following through with assisted suicide at a Swiss clinic. Lou learns of his plan and spends the months trying to show him that life is still worth living — taking him on trips, to a concert, and to her friend’s wedding.

The story follows (Emilia Clarke), a quirky, cheerful young woman who loses her café job and takes a position as a caregiver for Will Traynor (Sam Claflin), a wealthy banker who became paralyzed from the chest down after a motorcycle accident.

The ending is bittersweet: Lou, heartbroken but changed, moves to Paris to start a new life, fulfilling the potential Will saw in her.
