Platform: PSP Region: Europe (EUR) Genre: Anime Fighter / Arena Brawler Developer: CyberConnect2 Verdict: A Solid Handheld Time Capsule, But Lacking the Full Storm If you were a Naruto fan with a PSP in the early 2010s, Ultimate Ninja Heroes 3 felt like a minor miracle. It attempts to condense the bombastic, cinematic style of the console Ultimate Ninja Storm games into a portable, ad-hoc friendly package. The result is a mixed but often enjoyable brawler that excels in roster depth and portable pick-up-and-play action, even if it never reaches the visual or mechanical heights of its home console cousins. The Good: Roster, Speed, and Portable Chaos 1. Massive Character Roster For a PSP game, the roster is genuinely impressive. You get over 50 characters spanning from the original Naruto up through the Pain’s Assault arc (Five Kage Summit). Seeing characters like Sage Mode Naruto, Pain, Killer Bee, and the full Akatsuki line-up fighting on a small screen is a treat. Each character has a unique moveset, ultimate jutsu, and awakening mode, which provides plenty of replayability for fans.
The character models are surprisingly detailed for the PSP, but the backgrounds are flat and lifeless. Jutsus look decent, but the camera zooms out too far during combat, making small characters hard to track on the 4.3-inch screen. The Bad: Mechanical Flaws & Balance 1. Brutal Difficulty Spikes The AI in story mode is cheap. Enemies will perfect-block your ultimate jutsus, substitution at frame-perfect moments, and spam their own supers. Boss fights (like against Pain) rely on gimmicky quick-time events that feel frustrating rather than epic. Naruto Shippuden - Ultimate Ninja Heroes 3 -Eur...
If you’re coming from Storm 3 on PS3, you’ll miss the giant awakenings, ring-outs, and environmental destruction. This game feels like a stripped-down, 2D version of that formula. The combat can devolve into "who runs out of substitution chakra first." Platform: PSP Region: Europe (EUR) Genre: Anime Fighter
