Introduction: What is Vivah Paddhati? Vivah Paddhati (Sanskrit: विवाह पद्धति) translates literally to "Marriage System" or "Marriage Procedure." It is a codified set of rituals, mantras (sacred chants), and social customs that govern a traditional Hindu wedding. Unlike a simple contract, Hindu marriage is viewed as a samskara —a sacred sacrament that unites two souls for the fulfillment of dharma (righteous duty), artha (prosperity), kama (healthy desires), and ultimately, moksha (spiritual liberation).
