Early Access on Steam allows developers to release unfinished titles for funding and feedback. While intended as a temporary state (typically 6–12 months), some titles remain in this phase for over a decade. This paper identifies and analyzes the current longest-running Early Access game on Steam, exploring the technical, social, and economic factors that enable extended development cycles.
